Biography

Jeffrey McLarty was born 28 years ago in Leamington, Ontario. He is now building a life in Durham, with his fiancee, Rania Dahdouh.  After completing a degree of bachelors of applied science at the University of Waterloo he filled a variety of rolls at organizations including Research In Motion, Ontario Power Generation, Deloitte, Christie Digital and Tetra Tech Engineering (DBA: Wardrop Engineering).  With this background, he has an acute understanding of the role technology and energy plays in society.  He is currently a Chartered Financial Analyst candidate, which has provided him a deep understanding of business, finance and economics. After investing through two of the most volatile business cycles of the last century, Mr. McLarty is intimately aware, and critical, of the role government has played in the volatility.

Mr. McLarty ran in the Ontario 2011 provincial election because he believes the old left-right, liberal-conservative, bi-polar way of thinking needs a refreshing libertarian light cast upon it.  He feels the current system has been tweaked, by both parties, adding layers of inefficiencies.  These “tweaks” have increased unemployment, the cost of living, and market volatility while they have reduced the quality of education and amount of freedom for the people of Ontario.  Jeffrey believes that the principles of the libertarian platform would improve many of the cornerstones of society, by reducing the scope of government, and increasing freedom of the people.

Jeffrey’s top issue is tax reform.  Taxes are currently unfair, too high, and a burden to calculate, monitor, track & govern. Years of tweaking tax policy has created layers of red-tape.  Imports, Exports, Income, Capital Gains, Vices, Consumption, Transportation, Property: All of these forms of tax, are an unproductive weight on society, just to calculate, let alone pay!  There are many ways, to reduce this problem.
